If you are buying a Blu-ray DVD Player on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, you should be able to find great prices on some very good Blu-ray Players. Having a choice on what to purchase is not a bad thing. But it can make the task a little more stressful. And deciding which Blu-ray Disc Player is the right one for your home, especially with all the Blu-ray Deals this Holiday Season, can get a little frustrating. The main thing is to decide what you want from your Blu-ray Disc Player and choose accordingly. Internet Connectivity is found on all new Blu-ray DVD Players. And if you are going to take advantage of this feature, you may want to get a Blu-ray Disc Player that has integrated or built-in Wi-Fi. This will make your life a lot simpler. Since most people do not have an Ethernet Cable running through their living rooms. Players with Wi-Fi are easier to setup with your wireless Home Network.
With your Blu-ray Disc Player connected to the internet you can access online streaming services such as Netflix, Vudu, Youtube and much more. Each individual Blu-ray Player will have its own set of online apps. Then there is BD-Live content found on certain Blu-ray discs. BD-Live content is downloaded from the internet and comprises of things like online games, chat rooms, live commentary, deleted scenes and updated trailers. If you are not planing on viewing any online content, then go with a player without Wi-Fi capability. They tend to cost more, and there is no need to spend the extra money on a feature you will never use.
You also need to consider the Audio and Video Outputs of the Blu-ray DVD Player. Lower priced players will more likely have just the basic outputs. You have to make sure the Blu-ray Disc Players is compatible to your home setup. For example, all players will come with a HDMI Output. But if you have an older, non-HDMI A/V receiver, you may not be able to get the full effect of the players great High Resolution surround sound if it does not have multi-channel analog outputs. There is a very good chance you will require a firmware update for you player in the future. Name brands like Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic have excellent support for their models. And usually provide quick solutions to any problems that occur with their players.
You will probably see and hear a lot about 3D Blu-ray DVD Players. You should only consider purchasing a 3D capable player if you have a 3D HDTV. If you are planning on getting one if the future, it might be wise to invest in a 3D player now. But do not expect these 3D players to be among the cheapest. And 3D content might be hard to locate. Hurdle Training – 100 hurdle count – Reactive/ Endurance work
February 10, 2012 – On a 48 degree day and a mind to overcome a few obstacles. I opt for one of my 100 hurdle rep workouts. 10 over 10 hurdles set at varying heights, bunched to create quick step rhythms for 1-step, 3-steps. Recovery – 90 seconds between each rep of 10 hurdles. Hurdles 1,2,3,7,8,9 were set at 30 inches, hurdles 4,5 set at 36 inches, hurdles 6,10 set at 39 inches. The 1-steps were spaced 8-9 feet, 3-step rhythm were spaced at 18-19 feet, 19-20 feet going into the 39 inch hurdle. On a warmer day, I’d raise the height to 42s. Workout is again my way of making an enduring workout a challenge that isn’t too taxing on the body to get through it in straight sets with short recovery.

It’s easy to become complacent with your ozone burning habits, but take a step outside of the comfort zone. There are a WORLD of possibilities if you want to lighten your tread on this very expendable Earth we live on.
The following list is a small sampling of how to add some good karma to your life, oftentimes while saving money.
HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
1. In the battle of bamboo vs. oak; consider oak bamboozledBamboo flooring is a sustainable resource. We’ve all heard this, but what does it mean to be a sustainable material or renewable resource? Simply put, a resource is considered renewable if it is replaced by natural processes at a rate comparable or faster than its rate of consumption. Bamboo can grow anywhere from 24 inches to 48 inches per day, and in some extreme conditions, it can grow 39 inches in one hour, for short periods of time! Oak, in comparison, can grow up to 24 inches in one year. That means bamboo grows 365 times as fast as oak!
2. Buy a countertop made from recycled glass!Seriously folks. Why do you like granite? Is it because everyone else does? Let me go on the record as saying that your super sexy granite countertop will be yesterday’s news within the next ten years. Hopefully sooner. There are a growing handful of companies that agree with me and have developed a product that is made of recycled glass and concrete composite. It’s similar to terrazzo, and it’s gorgeous. Oop, and sustainable.

3. Use paints with low or no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)With all the products available on the market now, there’s no reason to use standard paint any longer. And nobody likes the smell that lingers long after the paint has dried. Take a look at Benjamin Moore’s website. They have developed a line of several low or no VOC paints, including Natura, Aura and Ben.

4. Drip-irrigationDrip what? Drip irrigation minimizes the use of water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip directly into the root zone through underground tubing. Conventional irrigation has an efficiency rate of approximately 65% (meaning that 65% of the water is used directly by the plants), which drip-irrigation has an efficiency rate of about 90%!
Using sprinklers is a waste, as plants and soil can only absorb a certain amount of water at a time, while drip irrigation eliminates any runoff water or watering of above ground plants, which does not benefit the greenery.
5. Spread mulch around plants and treesDid you know there is actually a purpose to that labored task that you take on every spring? Spreading one to three inches of mulch around plants and trees keep a plant’s root system cool and moist in warm weather. Mulching also helps prevent evaporation. Check with your city, as some cities provide free or low cost compost and mulching to residents.
6. Leave the Clippings on the Lawn!Think your landscaper is lazy because he doesn’t bag your clippings? Wish your mom would let you mulch the grass and leave it behind instead of dragging the bag of clipping out to the back woods every other row that you mow?
Turns out your landscaper is onto something, and you have an excuse as to why not to bag that grass next time:Not only does bagging grass add waste to landfills (needless!), it is detrimental to the grass that gets left behind. Forty percent of the nutrients that grass needs are lost when clippings are taken away and not left to compost naturally.
7. Harvest your rainwaterCollect rainwater and storm runoff in cisterns, barrels or storage tanks. This approach is called rainwater harvesting. This is as easy as placing a barrel at the downspout of your gutter. This water can be stores and used throughout the landscape for watering purposed, or brought inside to water houseplants. Residential and commercial cisterns are available for purchase, and they include pumps, purifiers and other gadgets, but a simple barrel will do the trick, and you’l be amazed at how quickly that barrel fills up!
8. Go grab some worms off your driveway during the next rainstorm!Vermiposting is a combination of composting and using worms to help the process along! You already know what composting is. According to calrecycle.ca.gov, organic materials (those which can be composted) make up approximately two thirds of the waste stream.
Vermiposting is becoming popular, as worms eat over half their body weight in organic matter per day. Just think of how happy these little guys will be! In the meantime, without knowing it, they’re creating ‘castings’, a beneficial byproduct full of microbes and nutrients, which makes great plant fertilizer.

i wanted to buy a new hdtv but i’m a total newbie when it comes to this stuff. i remember seeing a tv at costco play spiderman 3 so smooth it looked lifelike. i was trying to find out why, i know it said it was an led lcd hdtv 120hz.. i assume the smoothness had to do w/ 120 hz or 120 fps, but other tv said 120hz as well,but they did not look as smooth. my question is what can i look for in a tv that will ensure i get that crisp smooth playback, is there an option in the tv itself, or was it the blu ray player etc…anything helps,, thanks

Answer by David E the 120 Hz is artificial. LCD tv’s have trouble with refresh rate. They would some times leave afterimages on the screen because the time it takes to turn them on then off was too long. So, they decided to both engineer faster LCD’s and generate extra frames of data digitally. Hollywood movies are 24 frames per second and TV is 30 full FPS or 60 half FPS. That is, there are two resolutions broadcast in the states. One 720 vertical lines of resolution progressively displayed (one line after another) at about 60 frames per second. ESPN for example, uses this, great for sports. The other is 1080 lines interlaced. They display line 1, 3,5,7, etc then come back and do the even lines. This is how TV has done it for about 80 years. The original reason was to keep the picture from flickering but today, that isn’t and issue.
To get 120 hz, they create 4 artificial frames for every real one when showing hollywood movies. For TV, it is only 3 generated frames per real one. Artificial in that they don’t exist in the source material
What to look for… I’d look at a ticker on the bottom of the screen close up. See of the letters are clear or blurry as they scroll buy. Also look at regular 4 by 3 content as that is 480 lines of resolution and a lot of stuff you have may still use it. HD TVs generally have to upscale the picture to display it and if the TV does a terrible job doing that, you will be unhappy with it. You might also take a video sample with you to the store and see how it plays on the prospective TV.
LED LCD is an LCD TV back lit by LED’s. These type TV’s have the brightest picture but not necessarily the best. LCD TVs are lit by what amounts to Fluorescent bulbs. LED is superior to LCD but cost more.
